Any thoughts on this?

This is the fella here. http://www.fountainchambers.co.uk/barristers/tom-mitchell/

Quite interesting CV.

Practice Area: Defending serious crime

Extensive experience in very high cost cases involving allegations of massive fraud and organised crime as well as high value asset restraint, recovery and forfeiture.

Recent examples of VHCC and special casework in the last two years include:

R v JMW, Operation Cirrate, Liverpool Crown Court
Massive class A drugs conspiracy

R v NH, Operation Greengage, Liverpool Crown Court
Importation of class A drugs, criminal money and firearms.
Lancashire Constabulary's largest case of it's kind

R v GL, Operation Parkway, Teesside Crown Court
Alleged multi-million pound company fraud

I note that his specialism is DEFENDING serious crime. Interesting.

Yes, I spotted the 'defending' angle from the article alone, which quotes Dave Stubbs as saying "His principal practice area is defending serious criminal cases with expertise in the civil law of misfeasance and actions against public authorities."

Having said that, HBC seems to be in such a state of fragmentation that it is hard to guess just what will actually come out when questions are asked.

Don't like the sound of it - the whitewash has already been bought?

But, I guess, we will find out more tonight.

See you ALL there tonight.

Well at least the Paintbrush, we will have to see about the Whitewash.

I would have thought from the comments of various members of "The Mob" that they had nothing to be concerned about, everything in the garden is Rosy etc etc etc.......... so why the need for the principle individual in the hearing to be a barrister that "Defends" people or companies.

The very term Defending Barrister, leads you to believe that he will be looking to defend the actions of HBC, rather than look into the Serious Concerns raised by The Report.

"His principal practice area is defending serious criminal cases with expertise in the civil law of misfeasance and actions against public authorities."

Personnaly i would have prefered a barrister who`s "principal practice area was prosecuting serious criminal cases with expertise in the civil law of misfeasance and actions against public authorities".

Lawyers work both sides of the fence and it is not anything dodgy.

I understand people's cynicsm but I'm a little more optimistic, particularly in view of what I'm hearing about the public being able to make their own submissions. I'd have been far more cynical if the public had been excluded from the process. As with all such things - the proof will be in the pudding. (I have no idea what that means but it seems to be the appropriate saying in the circumstances  ::))
Diplomacy is the ability to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.
