For months, the grass around the Woodcutter pub had been overgrown and the area has been subject to fly-tipping. Local residents had complained repeatedly about this but the response from the council had consistently been that, as the property is privately owned, (Euro-Properties) it does not fall within the council's responsibility - and presumably still doesn't.

The day before the Mayors fun day, a team of council workers appeared from nowhere and cleaned up the whole area and cut the grass which had been waist high.
