Title: Calamity Chris strikes again ...
Post by: admin on February 12, 2018, 01: PM
Seems that CAB demonstrated his customary flair for public engagement during today's committee meeting regarding proposed council tax increases.

When a member of the public showed the temerity to suggest cumulative increases over a 3 year period to be 14.39%, CAB stated that he wasn't interested in figures, declaring that any further attempts to speak would result in expulsion from the hallowed ground of the Civic Centre.

Did someone buy him a Kim Jong Un annual for Christmas?

The problem is those six figure salaries that let him get away with it.

All that money appears to selectively block their eyes and ears.

Whooo Errrrr The gentleman concerned (not me) is an extremely pleasant and engaging chap, his behaviour was impeccable, he merely attempted to point out that 3 years of 4.9% increases had left more people in financial difficulty.

He stated that the exact figure in his case was 14.39% and said to the chairman I have the figures you can check them yourself......

His reply was...... "If you interupt the meeting again, you will be asked to leave"

At that he wpould be leaving the meeting, put his coat on stated his objection and asked for it to be recorded....... he is a friend of mine so I also said that I was leaving and passed the comment " You need to learn some man management skills, this is disgraceful once again" ... we both made our exit.

C Akers Belcher has often been quoted as saying that the best way for members of the public to engage with councillors is by the Committee System, in fact they changed the constitution to make that happen by abandoning verbal questions at full council meetings.

There wasn't a raised voice from either of us, but I fully expect another Ban, there is something seriously wrong with this Labour council, there is no means of scrutinising how they operate and the decisions they make.

It's only a matter of time surely before a 60 foot gold statue of the 'Great Navigator' is erected outside the Covic by pubic subscription?
An uncanny ability to strut sitting down.

It may be just me, but, out of all the self serving shenanigans this so called council is involved in, I find the fact that they refuse to answer any question, and consider themselves not answerable to the electorate, to be the most shocking and sinister......
Worse still is answering questions with threats...... They've obviously got plenty to hide!
Who votes for them? They're an absolute disgrace.

Let's not forget that the justification of stopping the public asking questions at Full Council Meetings (not the presubmitted ones) was because questions are handled at Committee level - need to watch the Constitution Committee

Seriously, though - wasn't it observed that HBC had an unusually large number of changes to the constitution?

You have to take into consideration that this council is incapable of accepting any criticism of any sort, 4 or 5 years ago a Peer Review Group made up of senior officers from several different councils compiled an in depth report on how the council operates.

They had very good things to say about certain aspects of the councils operation, but they did offer some criticism of other aspects of how they operate...... ie. When appointing a new CEO they should consider recruiting from outside of the authorities employees....... however, for many of us the damming comments were the lack of Openness,Transparency and Accountability.

There have been numerous occasions since that Peer Review report was issued were the lack of the above qualities have been sadly lacking.....there are councillors who's only knowledge of Nolan.... are the Singing Irish Sisters.

There have been loads of complaints on all sorts of matters over the years and to be perfectly frank, it's got to the point, that there is No Point  :-\

1) Selflessness Holders of public office should act solely in terms of the public interest. They should not do so in order to gain financial or other benefits for themselves, their family or their friends.

2) Integrity Holders of public office should not place themselves under any financial or other obligation to outside individuals or organisations that might seek to influence them in the performance of their official duties.

3) Objectivity In carrying out public business, including making public appointments, awarding contracts, or recommending individuals for rewards and benefits, holders of public office should make choices on merit.

4) Accountability Holders of public office are accountable for their decisions and actions to the public and must submit themselves to whatever scrutiny is appropriate to their office.

5) Openness Holders of public office should be as open as possible about all the decisions and actions that they take. They should give reasons for their decisions and restrict information only when the wider public interest clearly demands it.

6) Honesty Holders of public office have a duty to declare any private interests relating to their public duties and to take steps to resolve any conflicts arising in a way that protects the public interest.

7) Leadership Holders of public office should promote and support these principles by leadership and example.

A bit of an update on the results of Monday's meeting, on Thursday a hand delivered official letter from Ms Alexander dropped through my letter box.

She had received complaints from members of the committee about my "Rude and Offensive and Unacceptable Behaviour" towards the Chairman of the Policy and Finance committee, I have until Wednesday to reply to the letter.

I have been requested to give an explanation of my behaviour, to offer any regrets I may have about my behaviour, in Ms Alexanders eyes, my behaviour has " Fallen Short of what is Expected of Members of the Public.

My behaviour in her eyes, "Leaves her with No Option but to Consider Another Period of Exclusion".

I have no reason to reproach myself about my behaviour, in fact compared to the things I have been subjected to by labour councillors it is positively angelic.......the following link is an example of that........ I attended that meeting and Cllr Cranney was under some pressure from questions from a councillor (who wasn't on the committee but in attendance) and members of the public.....he yet again threw his toys out of his pram, adjourned the meeting and left the room.......as he did so he referred to me as "A WIFEBEATER"..... I am lead to believe CAPS is considered to be shouting...... which is exactly what he did.....

It's ironic that by informing the Leader of the Council that he should acquire some man management skills I am highly likely to bebe banned from council premises..... Yet, the councillor who abused me, who was sitting next the the Leader....... faced no sanction whatsoever for his vile outburst.

Has she spoken or communicated in any way with you in reference to events at the meeting?
Because it appears she has arrived at her decision already.
How can you be expected to  'offer any regrets' about your behaviour if you haven't even discussed all party's version of events?
A decision cannot be arrived at till then surely?
Making a decision on one party's version of events and acting upon it is unacceptable.

I am lead to believe that Independent councillors and a member of the local press were  incredulous at the decision by the CEO to issue this letter after complaints by Labour councillors.

Hypocritical in the extreme when you consider that the present Mayor of Hartlepool told blatant and well documented lies about being an MRA Trustee, the current Leader of the council told a blatant lie, whereby he blamed the Charity Commission for the accounts of MRA when it was in fact the MRA accounts that were devoid of the facts..... and who could forget Handsome Ste's Porkie Pies about attending a funeral and telling whoppers about the care of vulnerable adults......

Fred, This abomination of a 'chief executive' has already found you guilty, without the benefit of a 'trial'.
THIS would be a perfect opportunity to show the wider world how infected the Civic Centre is.
Take her letter to a solicitor and he/she will tell you Alexander has inferred guilt before a hearing.
Where is the "alleged" in her letter?
She has no "options" until she has heard your side of the story.

This disgraceful incident is just one of a long catalogue of abuse from the labour party to members of the public in this town.
I am sure the national press would love to get hold of this, and the back story (Cranney, SAB etc.), of what has gone on for far too long.
I, and the regulars on here will put their hands in their pockets towards a decent solicitor for you.
Let's show these people for what they are, and to a wider audience.

Not sure if this is an actual update on the letter threatening to ban myself and my pal....... No letter actually banning us appeared before the full council meeting, so we toddled off to the meeting, once inside the chamber Peter Devlin had a quiet word with us, that was it, no mention of the letter or the ban.

Maybe Peter Devlin pointed out a few salient facts about local democracy, but I can only guess......... I prefer to think that the show of support and offers of financial assistance had a lot to do with it.

Can I offer my personal thanks for your support, standing together is the only way to challenge the carpetbaggers and selfservers who are running (ruining) the town.

My guess would be they'll just let the matter drop and give you a quiet warning (at least until after the elections). The reason I think that is he clearly has made you, Fred, the focus of his latest personal vendetta (or at least one of them).

When one considers he has accused you of assault over twitter (potentially defamatory given that no charges were ever brought against you), then there's the video footage of the Jackson's Landing debacle and the comments Cranney made, the police 'mysteriously' turning up at your house, banning you AGAIN could make for a nice local, regional or even national news story.

In fact, I'd imagine the story is already written ready to send to the posts contact at Private Eye if you DO get a ban.  ;)

In fact, I'm certain it is. That'd look great on an election leaflet  ;)

Go on Chris, ban him, I dare you.  ;)
