240+ people killed in a Pakistani sweat shop fire - something to think about when you next buy a Primark T-Shirt for £2. Most of these people worked in an unventilated cellar with no fire escapes and where the windows were barred.
The money men have found a way to reproduce much lamented, Victorian working condition by exporting manufacturing jobs abroad. One day, we will learn to vet such sweat shops before placing our orders applying the same controls on working conditions as we operate here. In doing so, we will also give our own manufacturers the chance to operate on a more level playing field enabling them to create the jobs that are so badly needed in the UK.
