It appears HBC are not the only ones who sell off cheaply. Remember Rockhaven another Councillor attached deal. Then we had Leadbitter and the Muni, not sure how Councillors were involved in this deal but we lost out again by re-furnishing the car parks which took away most of the profit!

There must have been others - can anybody shed more light on these and other so called good deals?

Rockhaven was 'sold' to HVDA for £85,000 and a few months later, a grant from HBC to HVDA for £85,000 appeared on the accounts - in other words, it was given away.

The Central and Munciciple Buildings were 'sold' to the College of Art for around £100,000.

Both were sold on the basis of reducing the council's on-going maintenance bills. There were others too - the Leadbitter Buildings, for example.

The original property Windleston Hall at the head of this thread was discussed tonight on BBC1 "Inside Out" programme tonight.

The County Council did give their reasons for the low price obtained, but remarks about "transparancy and accountability" were made towards the end of the feature.

Now where have I heard these words used recently?
