Another loss of £3m in income for the council after the power station looks set to win its appeal against the level of business rates it's paying which currently account for 39% of such income for HBC.

Interesting that one of the ways they're hoping to, at least temporarily, off-set this is to cross their fingers and hope to sell Jacksons Landing - anyone remember Wells and his 'quick flip'.

Diplomacy is the ability to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

Thats explains the Calamitous Ones appearance in the Mail.....

Raymondo & Calamity..... Quick Flippers..... yeah right, you couldn`t make it up

Land Phil

Just emphasises how rubbish business rates are in total.

Jackson's Landing a venue?
The rotunda might possibly accomodate someones dream.........

But the main alleyway...no chance!

Mr.E

Actually since the shop fronts and parting walls have been knocked down
it does give ideas, and venue being one of them!

Just because there are support pillars there doesn't mean that it couldn't
be used for such a thing. I mean if they can hold Japanese manga/anime/cultural festivals in the crowtree leisure centre(you didn't see where they
put it in there!), I don't see why not!

You have to think it is still close to the bus route and plenty of parking.
IF the those who were thinking of a new place for Cleveland College of Art And Design why didn't they consider this place if it was big enough?

fred c

It would cost an awful lot of money to make the building a viable option for just about any business venture..... as for a music or performing arts venue..... who in there right mind would pay money to sit behind a large steel pillar.

However the space would just about be large enough to hold all of the Bulls**t spouted by The Dear Leader & The Mob.

Hartlepool is very poorly served by transport links. There are no direct express bus links to any of the  local towns. All the busses have very long journey times as they wander all over the place to increase revenue. Try getting a bus to Darlington, Durham, Sunderland or Newcastle to see how  long it takes. The trains are even worse. Because our dopey councillors took their eye off the ball TP retimed all their trains leaving Boro going to York and onwards so that they pull out of Thornaby 2 minutes BEFORE the connection from Hartlepool arrives. It means an hour stuck in the middle of nowhere because our councillors are too busy filling in their milage forms!
As a frequent rail user I know what it is like to try and get back to Hartlepool by rail. We have no one speaking up for us on this matter so we get shafted every time.
