I often go to York and use the Park n Ride instead of trying to park in the City Centre. The Park n Ride parking is free and the bus costs £1. There are always buses waiting, they run every 5 minutes and they drop you off slap bang in the centre. It really is hassle free and I would recommend it to anyone.
