I happened to be out and about around town today........ what is really noticeable in the wild flower beds that are now all over the town are the very tall and straggly plants that appear to have taken over from the planted flowers.

If they are flowers I would have expected them to have been in bloom, it is almost mid August, but no sign of any flower heads so far, have the council been sold a bad batch of seeds, or have they tried to cut corners and bought cheap.?

Have we got a LabTor horticultural businessman on the council....... :)

Driving into town on the 689 it just loos neglected and a but third world. What visitors think God knows.
Went through Stranton cemetery today and was was shocked at the state of the hedges behind the plots where cremated remains are buried. Aperture from cutting grass is sny other horticultural activity undertaken.?

There was a statement in this week's Hartlepool Life centre pages from the council.

The weed is called Fat Hen, it was either in the seed mix, or the soil preparation was badly done apparently.

The perennial wildflower beds between Throston and Bishop Cuthbert are fantastic and the annual wildflower beds between West View Road and Cleveland Road are superb, no sign of Fat Hen

I'd like to know who thought it a good idea to plant wild flowers on the green next to the swings in Burn Valley where the kids play. Play area gone and wild flowers everywhere. The flowers in this particular location must have fat hen plus and its cousin obese chicken as well, lot of green and a hint of purple. Looks like the kids have had enough and appear to be creating a maze.

The initial idea was to be commended, however, like many other ideas HBC over egg the pudding and it goes t**sup.......can we expect the powers that be to ask the questions, was it the seed mix or the flower bed preparation, if it was the seed mix, will the council seek re-imbursement from there supplier, if it was poor preparation will someone get there a**e kicked.

What this c**k-up has shown is that the initial idea was taken totally over the top and areas that shouldn't have been seeded, need to be returned to grass.
