Now the waste of money Mayor states despite a shed load made redundant already and £10m saved there is a lot more cuts to come.

Just how bare do the bones have to be?

Not 100% sure..... but wasn`t there a £9 Million contingency fund, for further redundancy packages mentioned in drummonds article.

I really think its about time the elected officials actually took control of what goes on in Hartlepool, the ridiculously high salaries that are paid to senior officers should max out at £100,000 & an incentive bonus scheme should be introduced...... the officers would then have to make savings & provide services to reasonable standards to earn their bonus, or get the bullet as they would in the private sector.

A few questions that spring to mind are.......................

Do we really need a Deputy CEO on around £80,000 a year, when we have a CEO on around £150,000 a year, plus various Directors on £130,000 a year.

Does HBC really need a Public Relations Department, surely there can`t be that much B***s*** floating around the civic ???...

Do we really need "Events Managers" how many events have been that large, to warrant an Events Dept ???

Do we need to pay full time wages to people who don`t actually work for HBC, but are seconded to work for the Union ???

If times are so difficult & there is an enormous amount of work to do to make the savings required....... how can the Mayor justify having a second job ???

Will the ruling labour group accept an increase in councillors expenses if it becomes available ???

One thing is for sure, the lower down the HBC food chain you are, the more likely it will be that you will be affected by the upcoming changes.

Further reductions in services & facilities to the council tax paying public is a certainty, & its a knocking bet that Council tax will increase by the maximum next time around.

Gloomy times are a distinct probability in the very near future.
