JL was never worth £10m, even an idiot like you should know that.

Its worth every penny of £1.5m.

Doesn't really matter what I think. That's the value that was originally put on the building/land and you said land never goes down in value. Did it go down or didn't it? Answer: yes it did - by £8.5m. If you can't see that you must be a Blind man.

The Great Dictator

It was valued at £10m by the previous owner, very much inflated by any standards.

If it was worth £10m they wouldn't have sold it to our council for £1.5m.

Land Phil

it will be sold for a knock down price for the benefit of the community and shortly after the Hartlepool royalty willl coincidentally be exchanging 10ct diamond eternity rings and moving house again.

steveL

I think it will eventually be sold to someone who has a lot of cash to hide.

Could that be after they've sold Longscar Hall at an overinflated price?

WhatTheHeck

Signs on fencing state company involved in the demolition is MGL Demolition Ltd, Durham.
Wonder what happened to Buckler ?

for fawkes sake

There has always been an unsavoury smell about this. Has someone decided that all the attention may not have bode well for the original deal?

Gunpowder, Treason and Plot.
I see no reason why Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot."

WhatTheHeck

Just a thought, if Bucklers submitted a quote for 80k, won the contract, then sub contracted the job out for half that amount, they then tell HBC of the arrangement, HBC  then can then quite rightly state  that the cost of demolition is 40k as they claim.

In Hartlepool house builders are still building to order, even on Bishop Cuthbert they don't take risks.

Bear in mind that the McDonalds building plot cost £250,000 18 years ago, JL is a bargain.
Builders in general don't build to order, they 'drip feed' the properties onto the market hoping to get a bit more as each property is completed. I bought a new build in Seaton in 2001. You could view the layout of the estate but only a few houses were available to buy at any one time. You could not reserve a plot which hadn't been 'released' or they wouldn't/couldn't give you a price for a plot which hadn't been 'released' either. The  builder then charged a different price when the plots were released invariably increasing the price as each plot was released, rather than build the whole estate and having properties sitting empty and maintain them till they sold them.

What the Heck.............

Buckler's certainly did not sub contract the work out. MGL are fierce competitors.

There is more to this Jacksons Landing Demolition than meets the eye.

Could this be the straw that breaks the camels back? or brings the whole house of cards down.

looking at the Choccywockeydoodah wedding of the year, how do a long term sick and unemployed(able) pair afford such a lavish extravaganza? How do they fund their Verve Cliquot lifestyle? How do they obtain a mortgage on a property in Elwick Rise? it certainly isn't from their Councillor Allowances, the figures just don't stack up.

Surely it is time for the HMRC to take an interest in this pair.

fred c

Do they have a property in Elwick Rise ? I often see their car & Lying Ste's van in the driveway of their house in Westbrooke Ave.

Always had my doubts about this story chiefly because it first appeared soon after we got an e-mail saying that they'd recently spent £5,000 on a bedroom suite in Westbrooke. That said, it was Christopher himself who was going round telling people of the planned move to Elwick Rise but it was to be 'soon' rather than imminent.

Either way, that's a £5,000 bedroom suite, a £1,000 wedding cake, a copious supply of Verve Clicquot champagne and a possible move to Elwick Rise. If you were watching the Labour party Conference this year, you will know that it's now OK to start using the word 'Socialist' again . . . although clearly, the word has been redefined somewhat.
