It looks like it's not just our MP who's hedging his bets regarding the election of the new labour leader.

A few months ago a certain person was pestering chuka umunna with direct tweets of admiration (gaining no response).

Then, once it became apparent Umanna wasn't going to run for leadership, suddenly Andy Burnham became the recipient of his support.

Tweets and retweets of support for 'team Burnham' occupied the twitter feed through late May/ early June.

Now here we are in August on the wave of national support for Jeremy Corbyn. Low and behold, all of a sudden not only are we seeing messages of support for Corbyn (from the person who previously indicated support for Burnham and prior to that Umanna) but he's signed up as a volunteer for the Corbyn campaign and is encouraging others to do so.

And there in a nutshell is a clear example of the 'leadership' we're currently faced with locally.

The politics of Umanna and Corbyn are a million miles apart even though they both stand under the Labour flag.

Indeed, even Burnham and Corbyn have a significant gulf between aspects of what seems to be their core political beliefs.

To flip flop support like that is embarrassing to say the least.

I understand the school of thought about a need to 'network' if a person has political ambitions. However, the irony here is Jeremy Corbyn is within touching distance of leading the Labour Party on the strength of uncompromising PRINCIPLES which he never deviated from.

Cosying up to him NOW, having previously courted the attention of BOTH Umanna and Burnham is tragic.

Still, since when have principles mattered to the Hartlepool Labour Party.

Makes the 'Vicar of Bray' seem steadfast.

Land Phil

As consistent as putting his full weight behind the Wynyard Hospital, marching to bring back services to Hartlepool around election time and then hibernating.

As consistent as walking around the streets campaigning with Labour councillors and then refusing to comment on any of their misdemeanours.

Ohhhh Yes..... he is the "Complete Member"...... Labour in Hartlepool is a malignant entity that has proven to be totally ineffective for almost 50 years.

The fawning backing for Cukka.... that was then transferred  Andy..... & finally  to Jeremy is symptomatic  of the self serving attitude that is all pervading within the Hartlepool  Constituency  Labour  Party.

Labour.... Socialists.......Trade Unionists.............

Not in Hartlepool

I remember that song from school, 'Whosoever the King may be, I'll be the vicar of Bray sir'. A man prepared to ditch every principle he loosely  held to hang onto his position. If you don't agree with his principles he always has others to suit the occasion.
What can be asserted without proof,
can be dismissed without proof.
