I got a call earlier today to say that he'd knocked on the door of once off my supporters who promptly told him "did you not see the poster in the window? I put it there to keep people like you from knocking on my door" lol. Got to love straight talking headlanders :)

The council tax was of no surprise Hartlepool being third once again for having the most highest Council Tax rates in the country, I recently visited Stockton and Middlesbrough and when you see what money has been ploughed into their parks and community spaces you can sit back and think to yourself, Yes the Council Tax money has been put to good use, they have invested in the Town Centres, there were shops with job offers on the windows you have street cleaners out on the streets, the town councils seem to understand that you have to spend a little to get a little back.

Hartlepool on the other hand, well, where does our council tax go......

Straight into the pockets of our dodgy Labour councillors who thing its the norm to pay their staff below the Minimum Wage, vote themselves another pay rise, then chop everything but the very bare bone of the Councils essential services.

Ime currently waiting for a court hearing over my council tax after I have been Harassed, intimidated and threatened by Hartlepool Borough Councils Council Tax department for a bill I know I dont owe, and once this is over and done with, I am leaving Hartlepool for good never to return, because the council are rotten to the core.

There's greener grass elsewhere !

Hartlepudlion

AND don't forget

We have had a freeze on CT for five years because of the cap imposed by the Government.

Still the third highest! Where would Hartlepool be without the cap!

Gawd help us if Labour are elected in the GE and they lift the cap. 5, 10 or even 20% rise?

This Council doesn't care about the CT payer. The still believe in the money tree!

Below is a copy of a letter I sent to the Mail 08 01 2011.  It was published and upset the Comrades, Richardson will have a copy in his 'Green ink' file.

'Dear Editor,

Without doubt Hartlepool Councils financial chickens have come home to roost.  For many years a small number of Independent Councillors have been objecting to the high spending of this authority and have been mecilessly criticised for it by the Labour Group.  Hartlepool council tax payers now pay the third highest council tax in England.

Stuart Drummond has said on a number of occasions, he is proud that Hartlepool is a high spending local authority.  'Big' Eric Pickles (minister for Local Government) has also recognised Hartlepools high spending record, that is why Hartlepool is one of the 37 local authorities specifically identified to reduce its spending by a high percentage (8.9%).

I fully accept one of the reasons for this high spending is due to high levels of deprivation within Hartlepool; however, it's a sad fact that in spite of tens of millions of pounds spent in deprived wards those levels of deprivation are just as high now as they have always been when compared to the national average.

Cllr Simmons and the Comrades should perhaps remember the reason why we are in this mess in the first place, it's not all together the fault of the bankers.  The UK is £4.8 TRILLION in debt, it happened on a Labour government watch.  As always (no matter what government is in power)the poorest in society will pay disproportionately more to resolve this debt than the rich.

Hartlepool has been asked to reduce its spending by 8.9% and that will mean difficult decisions.  Most local authorities are not being hit as hard as Hartlepool the big question for Hartlepool voters to ask is  WHY?

I must admit it is an interesting picture of Phillip Broughton delivering leaflets for the Torys in stockton, would there be no similar pictures of Jeff Lilley delivering leaflets for the labour party, or for that matter , Mr Brash doing the same, it must be remembered councillor Hargreaves said on standing down from the council as an independent My Heart will Allways be with Labour. We can all change our tune because of our freedoms, and it will never cease to amaze me why the Labour party in the council chamber are called on occasion Comrades Ed Milliband is a Marxist and the good people of Hartlepool can't see the connection,  be careful who you vote for. The last Labour government took only 13 years to run out of money if manages to be in power for 15 years it won't be called the Labour party.

FFS Tom! Yes, I've delivered 10,000's of Leaflets for the Labour Party.  The reality is like for so many decent people Hartlepool Labour Group is not the same as the Labour Party I joined in 1992.  It fails to uphold any of those basic socialist principals.  I would imagine Jonathan Brash, Steve Wallace and Pamela Hargreaves all feel the same way.  I also believe the rot set in with Labour after winning a second term in office under Blair, that Carpet Bagger sh**e and Bilderberger, Mandelson also screwed us all over, final nail in the coffin was Brown.

As for Milliband he'll never be a leader as long as he has a hole in his ar**.

Call me a cynic Mr Lilley but the labour party in 1992 is if I read you correctly now in 2015 going to revert back to the labour party of your dreams Blair has gone and Milliband may well be PM,  unions in control,  nationalised industry, the country the sick man of europe again. It is ironic is it not the labour councillors have been called Comrades and the civic is still red brick and called the kremlin,  and Ed Milliband is a Marxist, was this not so in 1992, im not sure but there are no outside toilets now no children working in mines or the satanic mills, Ed  Milliband has a hero in the french guy france is now a basket case economy comrade.

You've lost me.  The reason why Labour came into power in 1997 was because the Tory's had become unelectable.  When I call Labour Councillors 'Comrade' it tends to be done as an ironic statement (pish take).  I would also remind you that I have been referring to the Kremlin as the Kremlin for years.

I don't want to go backward to 1992, I certainly don't want to live in a Country were we have an extreme left or right wing government.  The Main political party's have lost the confidence of most people in the UK, trouble is where does that leave us, with a political vacuum? Trouble is all vacuums get filled.  I don't think UKIP or the Greens are the answer.

Greed, dogma and inflated egos seem to be the driving force in too many systems of governance and I include HBC in that.  People deserve better than the current Leadership, the wonderful thing is in a few weeks the people can decide.  If Labour gets the good kicking I think it will, the SCAB's Mad Dog and Co are finished and they will be abandoned by their own party.

I beg to differ mr Lilley I haven't lost you at all you know perfectly well where I'm coming from as did Burgess and Mclean, and Philby, communism is an ideal the labour party aspires to, and if your logic is that labour got into power in 1997 because the torys were unelectable then 2010 must surely be labour was unelectable,

YES! and in this election both Tory and Labour are both unelectable.

Not sure where McLean, Bugress and Philby come into this but the more the merrier.

DRiddle

I thought you lot had been banned from speaking on social media in the run up to the election Tom?

DRiddle

Just out of interest, lets suppose it's May 8th 2016 and UKIP have won all 22 wards over that 2 year period and now control 24/33 council seats.

What's the first thing you'd do Tom? Ban immigration? Take Hartlepool out of the EU? Make it so that only people from Teesside could fish in the North Sea?

Go on, what would you actually DO?

Land Phil

I thought UKIP were banned from speaking full stop, or is that just in the council chambers?
