It's a shame how things are working out with Mary Fleet as the new Ceremonial Mayor. Everyone stands up for Mary as she enters the council chamber because she's been a councillor for years and, by all accounts, a pretty decent ward councillor in Dyke House for all that time. It seemed appropriate that she should get to wear the Red Gown before she finally jacks it in. Unfortunately these days, the Red Gown also comes with the Chairmanship of the Council - a role now so tainted by Richardson and especially the Clown Prince that the traditional responsibility of impartiality of the Chair is but a distant memory.

It's all a bit much for Mary as her ears are constantly assaulted by the audible 'advice' she receives from The Leader (all hail the Leader) sitting nearby during every council meeting. Last Thursday was particularly bad as Labour tried to curtail any debate on joining up with Teesside City.

A last flourish from Mary, as she breaks ranks and tells CAB that SHE is the Chairman and that she really would appreciate it if he would S.T.F.U. is, I suppose, a bit of wishful thinking on my part. Even so, it would be a shame if her swansong as a Councillor was to join the ranks of Richardson and the pathological liar on a growing list of totally biased and inept Chairman.
Diplomacy is the ability to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

Yeah.... It is sad the she is being used by The Mob, Thursdays example was clear for all to see, she had the nod from the floor on 2 or 3 occasions to get "Brash Off".

She struggles at the best of times with the normal agenda, the CEO has to constantly prompt her through the items on the evenings proceedings.

But when has belittling & embarrasing  an elderly lady ever stood in the way of The Mobs version of democracy.
