Calamity Chris doesn`t know if he is going up the stairs or coming down the stairs.

Cllr Christopher Akers-Belcher speaking on 22nd June, 2012, I`m in favour of a referendum on scrapping the elected Mayoral system and replacing it with a committee system.

That now appears to be out of The Mobs window ?

A comical dilemma. What's changed so dramatically since we got rid of a mayoral system to now be shouting it from the roof tops that it's such a stunningly brilliant idea ? There is of course the power and financial benefits that require the election of a mayor, which conjures up the image of Spike the dog off the Tom and Jerry cartoons leaping up the tree, teeth snapping to grab the just out of reach Tom, or just out of reach rewards if a mayor, any mayor, could be elected to lead us to Teessides bright sunlit uplands ( where the sun will be shining particularly brightly on the boro.)
What can be asserted without proof,
can be dismissed without proof.
