Quote FredC; 'literally hundreds & hundreds of people who attend the ceremony on Saturday to award the Freedom of the Borough to the 3rd Battalion The Rifles'.

He will be inspecting the troops with 'Father Jack'.

I mean no disrespect to the guys at the Hartlepool Post, but it says much about the Hartlepool Mail that it did not give proper coverage to Cranney's disgraceful comment until The Independent and Northern Echo had picked up the story from The Post. Yesterday's front page story was undoubtedly a result of embarrassment at The Mail, caught out once again trying to play down the whole incident.

Even through The Mail's twisted perspective, the 'apology' from Cranney does not read as being genuine but begrudged. I suspect even this comes as a direct result of pressure from above. A few weeks before a General Election, clearly someone is not best pleased at Cranney's antics.

There's nothing genuine about his apology at all. Why waste the time of an investigation before 'officially apologising' after admitting his guilt? Begrudged is the right word and he's obviously been forced into it.

Cranney isn't the kind of bloke to apologise for anything. If he was there would be a long list of apologies for past misdemeanours. What about that £380,000 lost on Mutual Securities? He lost £380,000 and when people started asking where it had gone he claimed it was a witch hunt ;D ;D

Yea right!

Obviously the delicate, sensitive type - didn't he come up with a sob story in one of the recent newspaper stories?   ???

Cranney's made 'Tales from the Town Hall';

Only a question of time before he makes Private Eye.
