Title: Timing is Everything
Post by: steveL on October 18, 2012, 09: AM
It's all gone a bit quiet on the subject of councillor allowances, don't you think? The final recommendations of the remuneration panel were supposed to be with us in September. Timing is everything, it seems and given the outcome of the Peer Reveiew, perhaps now is not the best time to be awarding yourselves a nice pay rise. Tricky.  ;)

There must be similar thoughts on the awarding of the £50,000 Furniture Project. With all that talk of 'self-interest', any thought of pushing it towards Owton Manor at the moment would go down like a lead balloon with the public.

Saw this recently...looks like at least one council understands the Zeitgeist ...

The Peer Group Review has raised enough questions about the running of HBC with out the rulng group added more fuel to the fire that has been lit under their ar**`s, & with the fact a by-election is imminent they have had to wind in their brass necks about the increase in allowances.

But who would bet against the increase happening ?

" The Furniture Project " has been sussed & they know it has, i would think the Peer Group members realised it, for what it was as soon as they browsed the literature on the proposal.
