On reflection, of those in power,.... why does it appear they hold polarised views to those they are supposed to represent on the truly important matters . When did politicians decide the concept of fighting for what the electorate wanted was replaced by politicians ignoring the electorate and doing exactly what they thought best ............?

If you don't vote you don't get representation thus the 80 odd percent who don't vote are disenfranchised. So, to answer your question:-  they probably do represent the people who vote for them.

It is up to the non-voters to get out and vote. After-all it hardly takes any time at all to put a cross on a form.  Best thing we can do is to keep on recruiting readers to the H'pool Post so that they, the non-voters can get a more informed view of how our Council and in particular our Cllrs work.

I have come to the conclusion that the proportional method of voting is the only fair way to get representation for all who go out and vote. Mind you I can see why Labour in particular don't like the idea and want to stick to the first passed the post system.

Davidr what would the make up of the council be if it applied now?
