Title: Punch up at Gypsy & traveller consulation
Post by: SRMoore on May 17, 2013, 01: PM
I'm very surprised that this site and forum has been very slow in reporting an alleged assault on a member of the public by a well known member and previous council candidate of Putting Hartlepool First.

Quite an emotive subject, I know, and I'm sure that the person in question will welcome the opportunity to explain what went on and clear their name.

SRMoore should had been at this mornings meeting of the Finance and Policy Committee, he would have heard Cllr George Morris describe SRMoore as a maverick, and also said SRMoore did not speak for Conservatives in Hartlepool.

Just after that Briarfields field was included in the list for consideration as a traveller site.  I bet Cllr Ray 'Martin' Wells wishes he had not gone to Las Vegas for three weeks.

The only story here is the way that SAB almost tripped over his own feet in his rush to call The Mail, in the hope of stirring the s**t . . . . . . a bit like what you're trying to do now, Shane. It was some hours later that SAB got around to calling the Police.

Perhaps the person you refer to feels no need to explain anything and, given that the other guy involved has not made a complaint and, by all acoounts, was much the worse for drink at the time, that's hardly surprising.

We had these meetings months ago in the Belle Vue Centre. We were told that the site at B&Q was the only place this travellers site could go. We fought the decision and lo and behold there are now a dozen other sites available. The council treat the public with contempt, but fortunately in this instance the bullies didn't win!

Good attempt to deflect the subject there Lord Elpus. I'll happily accept the title 'Maverick' from George.

Back on subject... See how quickly this place springs into life when the wagons need to circle in defence of one of PHFs own? Yet how quiet it was in the 2 days following the incident? Start to see what I'm getting at now?

So you must have contacted George then (no denial).  He also said you don't speak for Hartlepool Conservatives.  I get the impression you two don't exchange xmas cards.

In relation to defending people, I have heard the same story of events from a number of people who saw the incident.  The person who started it was the worse for drink.  One man used restrained force to defended his wife and himself.  Its says a lot about SAB that he sees this as an opportunity to swing handbags and make political mischief.

Drunken behaviour in Hartlepool  ...can't complain when HBC say 24x7 boozing is good for the economy

Shane sweetie, maybe 'maverick' is a description which appeals to you, as it has a swaggering, devil-may-care sort of ring to it; sounds loads more appealing than another option - predictable and dull, dull, dull ... a sort of perennial fourth former...  ::)

I bet the people currently spending loads of money sprucing teesbay retail park (is it still called that?)up at the moment are pleased about that....... Having said that there is a load of travellers currently parked up at the rear of the bowling alley. How they got through the gates, with 24hour security is anyones guess.

Actually, no. I hadn't spoken to George before replying to your earlier post. George often refers to me as a "Maverick" and has also said on a number of occasions that "if we [Hartlepool Conservatives] had 10 more mavericks like Shane then we would be doing a lot better". As for not speaking for Hartlepool Conservatives (and I have spoken to him since) he was referring to the article published in the Mail and was stating that my views weren't necessarily the views of the Conservative Group in HBC. Obviously they aren't.

Back on Subject again... I'm not criticising the person involved in the altercation, as I said in the beginning I'm sure they would be happy to explain what actually happened and defend themselves against some of the accusations made against them (none of which have been made by me). I was and am critical of the main contributors to the front page of this site and the usual members who have been deadly silent about reporting this incident since it involved one of 'their own'. I can imagine it would have been a completely different story if this had been a Labour, Tory, Liberal or UKIP member.

The fact that you immediately replied with a personal dig in an pathetic attempt at discrediting me for simply daring to bring this matter up says far more about you than it will ever say about me Geoff.

Apparently the site on the land to the rear of B&Q was the preferred site and was put forward as such in the Local Plan as this has been the site in which the gypsy & travelers have historically used. The problem seems to have arisen when a penpusher in Whitehall decided that this site is not suitable and a nicer site should be found for them which is closer to shops, schools & jobs and further away from noisey and dirty environments like landfill sites (I sh*t you not).

All in all another reason why the Whitehall beast needs cutting.

Shane is just doing what SAB tried to do and make something out of nothing. I can understand Labour trying to score a point but not the irrelevant Tories. Even Shane's topic header is mis-leading.

I reckon that even if there had been a real punch-up and the bloke was lying dead on the floor then SAB would still have stepped over him in his rush to phone The Mail.

Several hours later he finally got round to phoning the Police - perhaps thinking that would help to stir it up a bit more. The boys-in-blue must be wondering what's going on given that, by all accounts, the guy himself has made no complaint - a wise move given that he reeked of booze.

The real questions here are why a meeting like this, on a predictably emotive subject, was organised without security and why council officers, who were only doing their job, were allowed to be on the receiving end of a bucket load of abuse from the audience. Needless to say, SAB kept well out of it.

After the alleged 'fracard' and the PHF member had left, the meeting descended into chaos and had to be abandoned altogether.

When you think that Richardson removed half the chairs from the council chamber at the hospital meeting fearing 'civic unrest' from a bunch of over-50s you can't help but wonder about the inconsistency.

Tip for Future Reference: Don't hold public meetings on emotive subjects next to working mens clubs.

PS Shane, Maybe George called you a Maverick because he's found out you think he's gone senile and want his job - just a thought.  ;)

Given the fact those that ask awkward questions tend to be targeted for payback it would  be interesting to know if the complained about asked any questions/has bearded  the complainant that night or in the past.

Word has it the fa*tty Belchers had drawn up a rule that no one smelling of alchohol was to be allowed into future  council meetings. When it was pointed out that this would exclude half the serving Labour Group the  policy was shelved!

Steve, you could have shortened your post to 'yes I'm a hypocrite and I hoped that this would all pass over without anybody making comment.'

I don't even want to comment on your final sentence. I have nothing but the upmost respect for George Morris and he is a dear friend to me. If you ever grew up to be half the man he is I may begin to show you some respect too, until then I shall show you nothing but the contempt you deserve.

It's a bit pathetic really. No one punched anyone and even the 'dear old pensioner', who was as pis*ed as a newt, by all accounts, only lunged at Fred, but managed to elbow Fred's wife in the ribs as he did so - which is why Fred grabbed him by the collar and pushed him against the wall. I'd say that's pretty much what any Hartlepool bloke would do after his wife had been elbowed in the ribs by some loud-mouthed p**s artist.

The truth is the A-B's don't give a s**t about 'the pensioner' - if he is indeed a pensioner. All they see is half an opportunity to score a point over PHF. In doing so, their own careless and inaccurate language has left them both wide open.

Would you not think that with one being a Trustee of Manor Residents and the other a recently resigned Director of Who Cares(NE) that they would have better things to think about? Their own responsibilities as far as both organisations go has not gone un-noticed as they will shortly find out. I guess they're feeling a little insecure right now and with good reason. Hardly surprising then that PHF, waiting in the wings, is scaring them shitless.

Send us the screen shots, Perseus. It's about time the locals knew just how pathetic and vindictive these two clowns really are.

"Don't ever look down on someone unless you're helping them up."

This is a quote from srmoores Twitter Profile, seems hypocrital when he has jumped on the bandwagon of blame without knowing the facts.

I'd be happy to, Stig. I am well within my rights to share a reported incident on my personal twitter feed. I have not named the individual involved in the 'alleged' incident, nor have I said that they were guilty of it. If certain members of this forum and PHF cannot accept that they too are open for scrutiny and criticism, then they really are blinkered.

Think I'm a Labour stooge too? Read my personal twitter feed, it's open - You'll find more criticism of the Labour party than anything else (except #Eurovision tweets - I do get carried away)

I see the words 'assault' , 'punched' and 'punch-up' being used far too loosely here. It looks like nothing of the sort took place.

StephenAkers-Belcher @CllrSAB  Ha ha funny when people make things up about u because they ain't got anything to damage me with. Failed journalists try writing for gossip.
