Question from Shane tonight about the upkeep of the Wingfield Castle to Cranney as Chair of Regeneration:

After years of total neglect, Cranney stood up and snapped. (Cranney always snaps*) "We ARE doing something about it. As a matter of fact we're 'aving a meetun about it next Wednesday (probably prompted by Shanes question so that Cranney had something to say by way of an answer) and we 'ave £25,000 from the 'rejuvenation fund' (never heard of that one) to pay for consultants to come in and tell us what needs doin'"

£25,000 for someone, probably a mate of Cranney, to come in and tell us it needs a coat of paint.

It's classic HBC because routine maintenance never enters their heads.

* Get a grant to buy or do something
* Wait till it deteriorates and almost rots
* Get consultants in to assess the damage
* Then apply for a grant for the repairs

. . . and round the circle, we go again

* Cranney always snaps because he knows he's on borrowed time. We've been gathering information on Cranney for the taxman for years but just when we're ready to post it off, up pops something else to add to it. We're in a state of perpetual addenda.

At some point soon though we're going to have to draw a line and send it off and Kevin's clock will start ticking - and he knows it.

Diplomacy is the ability to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

Cut the cndulyants out. I'll tell them what to do for nowt.
Ships need constant maintenance FACT.
First priority, start chipping and painting / treating every exposed surface and keep doing this on a regular basis. The end.
What can be asserted without proof,
can be dismissed without proof.
