A bit bizarre this as Hartlepool didn't actually get a mention in the Combined Authority's Transport Plans. I believe that, as an after-thought, they might be chipping into the Elwick By-Pass and bridge but then the only reason that is happening is to allow the Elwick Road housing developments to go ahead. If they were genuinely concerned about safety then they would have noticed that the majority of accidents occur at the Dalton crossing for which the Elwick by-pass will do nothing.

At some point, the local clowns will figure out that roads have two ends and that the Wooler Road/Park Road junction is about to become virtually impassable.

How reassuring is it to see that the semi-literate Cranney is our representative on this.

Diplomacy is the ability to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

The proposed bridge will be several hundred metres from the present junction on the A179/A19 . Why not close all access to Elwick from the A19 and remodel the present Elwick road to join the A179 ?
A lot cheaper too.

Ms Ogden said that the proposed by-pass was "The Prioriy".......... I did mention the long time, major problems caused by the volume of traffic that has plagued Wooler Rd,  Elwick Rd and Catcote Rd for several years, I also mentioned the town wide gridlock at peak times and voiced the opinion that most motorist are of the view that traffic congestion in and around the town is ' The Priority.

She expressed the view that a road traffic consultation would take place to evaluate the problems of traffic congestion in the areas mentioned above... although, the Elwick Junction remains the 'Priority'.

Elwick Rd / Wooler Rd / Catcote Rd / Hart Lane, will be almost impassable during peak times of the day, half arsed planning for the benefit of developers rather than the towns residents, it can only raise further questions about the reasons for the abandonment of the town plan.

Inspector Knacker

It would make more sense to have a western by'pass of the town from the A689 to the A179 and traffic from The town could feed into that instead of everyone having to head onto the 689 or 179 to get out of town and remove a lot of traffic for cross town journeys. Catcote Road and Wooler Road are log jammed at busy times and travelling north to south is bes avoided aspecailly at morning peaks.
But then how many councillors experience this every morning?

If we can see the transport problems caused by the various developments that have been granted planning permission around the town, how come the planning committee, which includes a 'property developer' can't.

At peak times I think the quickest way north to south is along the Raby Rd, York Rd, Stockton Rd corridor  ??? ???
