An article in today's Times May wants to ditch Osbornes plans for directly elected Mayors for City regions. She is nervous about them as it would give Labour moderates a platform.
The article goes on to say that she wants to phase out the Northern Powerhouse brand, she intends to focus on boosting the economy across England outside the South East.
Is this the beginning of the end for the new Cleveland Council ?

More disturbing information creeps out about the Tees Valley amalgamation dream of CAB & his crew....... the Mail hasn't picked up on this story, no surprise there of course.

There was an item on Newsnight not long after Theresa may became Prime Minister which let it be known that she intended to 'dilute down' Osborne's Northern Powerhouse. She favoured spreading the economy out of London and the South East but to all regions; not particularly focussing on 'the North'.

I''d say the Northern Powerhouse is now a dead parrot and the current lack of enthusiasm for City Mayors from Westminster tells us that the idea of a Combined Authority is equally dead in the water but the suits will still fight for it. It was never a good idea for Hartlepool especially as we've already read that book and know how it ends - something that seems to be confirmed already by the Echo article. Hartlepool struggles to pull in new investment at the best of times and the pull of Middlesbrough at the centre isn't going to help one bit.

CAB's out of step with the voters on this one but then he never was that astute.
Diplomacy is the ability to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

Bus Stops hav been getting new signs that say Tees Valley Connected on them.

The irony is most around me also say No Service or No Public Services.

Useless dictatorship in action.

This doesn't end well. There are some significant employers in our town who should be looking over their shoulder. In the list, in my opinion, are two colleges, any remaining hospital staff and police officers based in Hartlepool and every single member of staff in the civic centre.

If this goes ahead it'll be a disaster for Hartlepool. But then we already know that. Akers-Belcher in chasing his own personal pot of gold is steering the ship towards an iceberg.

This really doesn't end well for Hartlepool.

Anyone deluding themselves that that voracious wannabe that is Middlesbrough wouldn't elbow it's way to the front of the pack and start taking control should be sectioned. There's a need in the place to be the municipal c**k that crowed and won't be deflected from its course. The eventual outcome will be backwater status for our town and let's face it, we're shafted because our so called representatives have all the drive of a pound shop battery. I'd rather be represented by a sheet of plywood, because this lot are way out of their depth.Running rings round them and generally calling them to heel shouldn't be too difficult.... and that's our massive problem.
