RAPISTS, attackers, drug pushers and burglars are just some of the hundreds  of offenders who have applied to work with Teesside children.
Data obtained by the Evening Gazette has shown that more than 400 checks done  on people applying for positions in Teesside schools over the last three  academic years came back revealing convictions, cautions, warnings or reprimands - some for the most serious of crimes.
One person applying for a job as a caretaker had a previous conviction for  intercourse with a girl under the age of 16.
Another had "abducted an unmarried girl under 16".
There were two applications for caretaker positions made by convicted  rapists. One applicant for a childminder position revealed a caution for assault  on a child or young person, while a potential teaching assistant had been "drunk  in charge of a child".
