Even if it is part of a departments budget income and expenditure will have its own specific cost centre. It is not a case of can't do, more of a won't do.

No matter how delightful some may find the place, it's a business venture. Now when a council, a Labour council, can't subsidise bus services, used by the most needy of society, how can they venture Iinto projects like this. This is ratepayers money invested in a business which should not be the business of local government..
Out of hours bus services or a selection of bottled beers, which should be the priority of a council.....?
What can be asserted without proof,
can be dismissed without proof.

The bottom line is there was a column on this site as well as dozens of people on the forum who correctly predicted this was a farcical venture before a skinny latte had even been poured.

The column written months before the cafe opened makes fascinating reading in hindsight.

Although I don't think links exist to the specific column anymore.

It was a crackpot idea that was never going to work.

It makes you wonder what the reasons were for doing it in the first place.
