Title: Middlesbrough Chief Exec Steps Down
Post by: steveL on June 13, 2012, 08: AM
Ian Parker, Chief Executive of Middlesbrough B.C. is set to retire at the end of June. I notice from the article in the Echo that his salary is £152,000 which is £2,000 below what Paul Walker received before he was given his controversial £11,000 pay rise to £163,000 just months before he too retired. Some would say it was contrived simply to increase his finally salary pension but the real question is whether or not those who voted for the increase were complicit in this cynical arrangement or were they just plain stupid.

Middlesbrough population is currently 142,200 - half as much again as Hartlepool.

When he was head of regeneration at hartlepool 10 years ago he was as popular as a far* in a spacesuit, i couldn't believe it when he got a job elsewhere as a chief ! The old payrise scam goes on everywhere including the police. He'll be heading back to rochdale with his pension, good riddance to him... :-\

About threes in the post, pay increases when other are on a pay freeze. The point the EG conveniently misses is that this is Mallons 4th CEO in his ten years in power. All others have received about a £20k pay off. It seems a bit odd doesn't it the high turnover of CEO in scuba short period of time. Will Mallon put his hat in the ring for CEO
