HBC Press Release
Views sought on development proposals

A SPECIAL meeting will be held in Hartlepool next month (Wednesday 6 August) to discuss proposals for a new housing development in the town.

Prism Planning has approached Hartlepool Council and requested a Pre-Application Developer Forum which will take place in the Civic Centre starting at 9am.
At the meeting, Prism Planning will present its proposals to build around 2,000 homes and local amenity facilities on land at High Tunstall Farm in the West Park area of the town.

Pre-Application Developer Forums are part of the Council's One Stop Shop, pre-application advisory service which provides advice on planning matters prior to the submission of a formal planning application.

At the meeting there will be an opportunity for councillors and other interested parties such as the Parish Council and Environment Agency to seek clarification on any points or raise issues.

Members of the public are welcome to attend the Forum and listen to the proceedings but are unable to ask questions.

Andrew Carter, Hartlepool Council's Planning Services Manager, said: "The Forum meetings enable any potential developers to present their planning proposals prior to the submission of a formal planning application.

"It must be emphasised that this is not an opportunity for people to object to the proposal; it's an opportunity for councillors and interested parties to seek clarification or raise planning issues which should be considered by the developer in any formal planning submission."

Any interested party wishing to participate in the Forum should contact Sinead Turnbull at Hartlepool Council on 01429 284319 or email developmentcontrol@hartlepool.gov.uk in advance of the forum.

The Mail will be filming the Planning Meeting in which the Tunstall Farm development application will be discussed. The editing should prove interesting.

Diplomacy is the ability to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

The Planning committee have chickened out over the Tunstall Farm and Quarry Farm applications and deferred both - allegedly over lack of detail on flooding potential. This often happens when lots of members of the public turn up which tends to unnerve councillors.
