The plans to regenerate Seaton go back a few years, in fact, back to the days of Drummond and his Cabinet when most of the work was done. The plan was for a phased housing development which would generate cash to pay for the regeneration of Seaton Front and to rebuild Seaton Youth Centre which was demolished in preparation for the housing development. At the time, there was quite a row over demolishing the Youth Centre but the promise that it would be rebuilt was enough to eventually win people over.

With figures of £3m being bantered about, you can see why the scheme has attracted Cranney's attention - he wants a slice of it. OFCA in Jutland Road now calls itself a 'Community Hub' (or a 'Community 'UB', as Cranney calls it.)

Cranney has scrapped the commitment to rebuild Seaton Youth Centre and plans to redirect the money to his own OFCA, the board of which is dominated by members of his own family and 'business associates'.

To help him get there, he excluded all three of the Seaton ward councillors from sitting on the Seaton Coastal Committee which is overseeing the regeneration plans. Stephen Akers-Belcher, who is now working at OFCA, is the Chair of the Coastal Committee.

In an earlier question by Graeme Measor, Cranney was asked why the three Seaton Councillors had been excluded from the Coastal Committee and in the 2nd video below, you can see how Seaton Councillor Paul Thompson is denied the right to further question Cranney on his answer by Chairman Mary Fleet after prompting by Cranney who was sat next to her. Watch passed the Fracking question as Fleet allows questions on a less locally controversial subject.

Here's Cranney denying and then confirming the above:

Where did the £3,000,000 come from? Any ideas anyone?

I've seen the 'vision' but I haven't seen any estimates never mind any proposed or committed investment.

There was a report to the Regeneration Committee recently which gave the figures expected from the Esh Development - they didn't come anywhere near £3m. That said, with the inclusion of people like Morton on the coastal committee then who knows what scams he and Wilson are concocting.

It would have been funny if the Look North Film had shown the Longscar in the background with the Wilkie workmen doing up a building that HBC are supposed to be compulsory purchasing.

I'm surprised they opted to choose the disgraced former mayor as the spokesperson for Seaton carew.

If you're trying to attract investment from out of town, it's probably not the best idea to use Stephen as the 'poster boy' for the development.

Based on their collective track records as directors and/or trustees any investor with any sense wouldn't go near a commercial venture which has anything to do with him or Mr Cranney.

This 'master plan' has disaster written all over it. Not so much to do with the ideas and plan as such, I just have no confidence in many of those directly involved.

£500K for the actual 'tarting up' with paint and plants....and £2.5 million in Committee expenses/ visits to successful towns/ external consultants/etc....and no doubt OFCA will be opening a Seaton branch in order to get a slice of the cake!  Or am I just being cynical ::)

In Morecambe they have a statue of a comedian on the promenade,   in some places they get elected.  He was very funny and told jokes, in some places they're not at all  funny and they are the joke.
