The lack of coverage of this by the Hartlepool Mail makes me wonder if the paper is being complicit worth the local council in playing it down. In this Gazette story, Secretary of State Greg Clark makes it very clear that going beyond the Local Enterprise Partnership into a Combined Authority means having a Teesside Elected mayor and that it should be up to the people if this is the route they choose.

We've been denied a say in whether or not we join a Combined Authority and if we end up with a Teesside wide referendum on having an elected Mayor then Hartlepool people will be but a fraction of the total vote.
