Do we still have one.....? Heard nowt since 'Destination Hartlepool' the best marketing ploy since asbestos nappies.
I could never work out the logic of it. They laid a few paving stones and expensive looking barriers and they told us it would tell visitors they'd arrived in Hartlepool.
Now let's look at this logically. If 'visitors' are coming for the first time for whatever reason, they'd have obviously worked out the route or set their sat nav to get here. Failing that, there are massive signs on every approach at the town boundaries welcoming visitors. Did the Dumpling Dictator and his Rent a Brain squad really believe people had ignored all the above options and driven randomly into town and as they got near the College started screaming with delight that they'd arrived in Hartlepool because of the safety barriers and paving stones (er, which apparently just happen to have been flogged to numerous other councils in the region during revamps).
Doesn't make sense.
