   Smacks of Labour desperation for power, ironically it was Labour that pushed through the 49% pay rise 3 years ago in full council.

Ironically, this could restrict holders of these roles to those who were either retired, working but had employers willing to give them large amounts of paid time off - or people of independent means. Hardly a socialist perspective?
