This photo appeared on The Mail's 'Memory Lane' section a while back and I have been trying to locate it for some time

Original Mail pic

Where I went wrong was in accepting the statement the 2 tall chimneys in the background were from Cameron's Brewery and the Paper Mills. That would put the location somewhere to the west of Burn Road and I just could not line it up with any streets in Wagga from 1900 to the 1940's.
After much searching the following air view was pointed out to me

and by a stroke of luck  the bulding in question is still  standing even though all the others have been knocked down.
The large steps to the far right of the Mail pic appears to be a water tower.
The location is Cromwell street/Lynn street junction and it is the present day Council depot.

Close up of old building

Air view marked

The confusion over the 2 chimneys arose because Camerons Brewery had (for a while ) 2 chimneys  rather than the more widely seen single example.

2 Chimneys

Present day location of the 'church'.

yellow cross marks the spot.

This photo featured in' Memory Lane' in todays Mail (Sat Oct 20th)

and it is  the other half of the photo in the previous post.

Streets marked and photographer's position is the green hand

Quite why they are chopping photos up is a puzzle and it is not the first time they have used the same photo twice-very sloppy work!

St Paul
